4. How do I play Cheops?
Because Cheops is such an unusual expansion, it can only be played in the non-ranking lobbies.
1. Starting Positions
Each player may start with 3 towns.
Starting town may only be placed at the bank of the Nile or Nile delta .
2. Gold fields
Instead of an element of choice you receive a gold nugget. Gold nuiggets may be traded with the bank at the rate of 4:1 or 3:1.
3. Longest trading route
The Longest trading route card is not used in Cheops.
Ships may not be moved.
5. Streets / Boats
Streets and ships may be used at any place along your trading route.
A player may use the harbors of his opponents. The only condition is, that the player must be connected to the harbour thrue one of his streets. The owner of the streets in between is irrelevant.
To use the opponents harbor you have to pay the owner of the harbor one gold nugget for each transaction.
7. Building the big Pyramide
As soon as the first town is placed at the building site of the pyramid (violette dots in picture), the building of the pyramide is started.
A pyramid stone costs one ore and one brick. You may only build at the pyramid if you own a town at the building site, or you are connected to one thrue your streets.
If you build thrue one of your opponents town, you have to pay the owner one gold nugget per stone.
8. "7" is thrown
The rules for the robber are unchanged. However, gold nuggets are not counted for the 7 cards rule.
When "7" is thrown and pyramid building has started, the faraoh builds a stone (black stone).
9. Special Cards "The blessing of the faraoh" and "The curse of the faraoh"
The player that builds the most stones gets the the card "The blessing of the faraoh" (+3). He can only lose the card to his opponent, if the opponent builds at least one piece more.
The player(s) that build the least stones get the card "The curse of the faraoh" (-2).
The end of the game
The game ends when:
- a player reaches 12 victory points
- all black stones of the faraoh are placed at the pyramid (16)
- the pyramid is finished
At a tie, the game continues until one player has the most victory points.
